Prestige Guide
What is Prestige?
Prestige is a number based on your overall performance on Darkspace. By saying performance, I mean that prestige is calculated based on certain tasks you perform. Once you have recieved a certian amount of prestige, you will increase in rank. Click here for the rank levels.

How is Prestige Calculated?
As mentioned before, prestige is calculated based on certain tasks you can perform. Each action has it's own prestige calculation factor. The number of points you have of that action is then multiplied by its calculation factor to reveal your total prestige for that action. This is done for every task you can perform, and the sum of numbers is added up to get your final prestige. Here is a list of all the actions you can take, their prestige calculation factor (PCF), and a description of how to go about doing them.

Prestige Gain
Prestige also depends upon the number on a current server.  If you are playing by yourself on a server, your prestige gain will 1/8 of the normal prestige gain. This amounts to a 12% prestige gain. To obtain 100% prestige gain, there must be at least 8 total players present in the current server.

Whats the difference between Points and Prestige?
Points accumulate depending upon what actions you take.  For example, if you engage in combat, you will recieve a certain number of "Ships Damaged" points, depending upon how much damage you inflict upon the enemy ship. This number does not directly effect your overall prestige. Prestige is calculated by taking the points in a certain catagory and multiplying it by a factor. Then, all these numbers are added up to give you your overall prestige.

Prestige Calculations
Action PCF Description
Bonus Prestige + 1 Bonus prestige is determined when one faction wins a scenario game. If you are on the winning team, you will be awarded a certain amount of prestige, depending upon the time you have played during that game. This prestige is minimul, and you recieve on average about only 1 or 2 prestige.
Ships Damaged + 3 Currently, subject to change, Ships Damaged is calculated by taking the amount of damage you caused to a enemy ship's hull and dividing that number by 20,000. You then get 3 points of prestige for every point you have in Ships Damaged.

ShipsDamaged = Damage / 20000

Prestige = (Prestige + ) ShipsDamaged * 3

The Transport currently has 20,000 hull points, thus if you completely destroy a transport alone, then you would received 1.0 points in Ships Damaged. If you are assisted by other players, then the points are distributed among all of the players who did damage to the enemy ship, proportionately. This way, there is no such thing as "Kill Stealing" in DarkSpace. The "Kills" value in your profile is only for show, it has no impact on your prestige.

Planets Damaged + 1 Planets damaged occurs when you bombard an enemy planet. For every planets damaged point you have, you will recieve the same amount in your prestige calculation. You can only damage planets with MiRV bombs, the Quantum Singular Bomb (QSB), SABOT rockets, or P Cruise Missiles. Bombarding enemy infantry on a friendly planet will count towards Friendly Fire.
Planets Captured + 5 When you successfully capture a planet, you will recieve a certain amount of points. Multiply your planets captured points by 5, and this will amount to the prestige you have earned by capturing planets.
Friendly Fire - 3 Friendly Fire occurs when you damage or attack a friendly target (i.e. ship or planet). With the gate camping code in place, FF also occurs if you fire any weapons within a 500gu radius of any Jump Gate. For every point of friendly fire you accumulate, your prestige will be calculated by multiplying that number by 3, which will be subtracted from your overall prestige.
Repair + 2.5 Repair prestige is calculated by the number of "hull" points you repair on a friendly ship. This will add to you repair points, which are then multiplied by 2.5 to calculate your repair prestige. Reloading weapons or refueling ships does not count towards your repair points or prestige.
Construction + 1 Construction occurs when you build structures on a planet. For each structure, you will recieve a certain number of points under the construction catagory. The number of points in your construction catagory will equal the amount of prestige you earn for building structures.
Kamikazi + 5 Kamikazi occurs when you damage other ships due to the destruction of your ship.  If you damage an enemy ship, you will recieve kamikazi points. Multiply by 5, and that will determine your kamikazi prestige. However, if the destruction of your ship damages friendly ships, this will count towards Friendly Fire.
Self Destructs - 5 Self Destruct occurs when you purposefully destroy your own ship. This will add to the number of SD points you have. Your SD prestige is calculated by taking you SD points and multiplying by 5. This overall number is then subtracted from your total prestige.
Jumps + 0.1 Jumping is the only way to travel at faster than light speeds within a system. For every jump you take, you will recieve 0.1 prestige.
Planet Collisions - 1 Planet Collisions occur when your ship collides with a planet, thus destroying it. Everytime you collide with a planet, you lose 1.0 prestige.
Ships Lost - 0.001 Ships Lost is not the actual number of ships that you have lost, but rather the sum of the costs of the ships you have been destroyed in. This number is then multiplied by 0.001, and subtracted from your overall prestige.
Scout + 1 Scouts are equipped with beacons, which can "tag" enemy objects. Depending upon the object you tag, you get a certain amount of scout points.  This number is then added to your overal prestige score.
Scrapping Buildings - 1 Scrapping building occurs when you decide to "delete" a structure that has already been built on a planet. This prestige is calculated as same as the construction, but in a negative form.
