Primary
Systems |
Primary
Systems are the systems that keep the ship functioning. These
systems range from fusion propulsions drives to armor plating
to ECM and ECCM devices. Basically, they are all the
systems that do not cause damage to other ships. Here is a complete
list of the primary ship systems and their functions:

Fusion Reactors |
Fusion
reactors are the earliest type of proplusion system
used by UGTO and ICC ships. These reactors hold
a certain amount of energy, 1000 units as a standard.
Energy is then produced when cold fusion occurs, converting
the stored energy into fusion thrusters. Smaller ships
will have less energy available for this cold fusion
process, while larger ships like stations have quite
advanced fusion reactors that require more energy. |
Proton
Fusion Engines |
Fusion
drives are used for sub-light speed travel.
There
are four types of fusion drives, the AFE, AME, IE,
and PFE drives. The speed of a vessel is not directly
related to the type of drive used, rather it is a
matter of how many fusion drives are mounted versus
the overall mass of the ship.
The
tachyon drive produces no energy and is used only
for in system jumps. As it requires fuel to run it
is best to keep a close eye on your gauge. Jumping
far away from a friendly planet or refueling platform
can lead to a long slow ride home. Many new pilots
fail to remember that once the jump drive is engaged
there is no steering and no stopping without blowing
your drive. Make sure that your destination is free
of obstacles. It is also a wise move to jump near
a planet rather than directly to a planet, sometimes
the orbit speed of the object that you are jumping
to may cause a collision, remember, better safe than
dead.

Tachyon Drive |
This
is a special propulsion system, and is dedicated only
to faster than light speeds. The tachyon drive produces
no energy and is used only for in system jumps. As
it requires fuel to run it is best to keep a close
eye on your gauge. Jumping far away from a friendly
planet or refueling platform can lead to a long slow
ride home. Many new pilots fail to remember that once
the jump drive is engaged there is no steering and
no stopping without blowing your drive. Make sure
that your destination is free of obstacles. It is

the object that you are jumping to may cause a collision,

Armor
Plating |
Armor
plating is a standard for most UGTO ships, but
is rarely found in the ICC Fleet. This defensive
system adds massive plates of armor to the ships hull,
thus increasing the damage the ship must take before
any hull breach can occur. There are two types of armor:
light armor and heavy armor. Light armor is found
on smaller ships, since their hulls cannot hold the
weight of the heavy armor plating. Larger ships, such
as the cruiser and dreadnaught class, mainly use the
heavy armor plating. This is also a self repairing system.
Light
armor will absorb 10,000 points of damage and takes
300 seconds to repair fully.
Heavy
armor will absorb 20,000 points of damage and takes
300 seconds to repair fully.
|
Shields |
Shields
are only available for the ICC Fleet. The advent
of shields puts the ICC's defensive technology ahead
of the UGTO's. Shields are generated by the ships energy,
and can absorb a certain amount of damage before weapons
will penetrate to the hull.
Shields
will absorb 10,000 points of damage and takes 200
seconds to charge to 100% from 0%.

System
Name |
Desciption |
ECM |
Electronic
Counter Measures, also known as ECM, emits an electronic
pulse that reduces the ships signature created by the
propulsion systems, thus making it harder to detect
by enemy scanners. |
ECCM |
Electronic
Counter Counter Measures, also known as ECCM, emits
a similar electronic pulse that the ECM device
does. However, instead of reducing a ships signature,
the pulse from the ECCM device increases a ships scanning
ability, and is able to detect even cloaked ships. |
Tractor
Beam |
The
Tractor Beam is a device that is found only on board
a small number of ships. When activated, this device
emits a magnetic force upon the targetted object, and
can either pull or push that object away. |
Scanner |
Scanners
are found on scouts and minelaying ships. This
devices is able to detect the presence of enemy mine
fields. |
Jump
Disruptor |
This
devices is found only on the Interdictor, a cruiser
class ship. The Jump Disruptor has the ability to create
a field with radius 1000gu where all ships (friendly
and enemy) cannot use their tachyon drives. |
Reload |
Reload
bays are found on the supply class ships. These bays
are home to 4 repair drones, and can be launched to
repair, refuel, and rearm friendly ships within a 100gu
distance. |
